Black Bean Hummus Recipe
Black Bean Hummus Recipe
I'm lovingly nicknamed, "The Snack Queen" because I obviously love to snack. One of my favorites is black bean hummus, so I thought I'd share how I make it.
I originally found this recipe on Pinterest, but made some modifications. I like the tangy lime bite of this recipe, and the creaminess goes well with tortilla chips.
I don't care for the taste of chickpea hummus, unless it's "dolled up" with other ingredients, so I tried this black bean recipe years ago and really liked it. With some experimenting and an eager husband to taste test, we found a recipe and made some adjustments.
First, I like my hummus really smooth, so using a food processor is a necessity. I have the Ninja Blender/Food processor and it does a great job with my daily smoothies and this recipe. I prefer to peel and mince the garlic before I add it to my food processor. Otherwise you could end up with huge clumps of raw garlic throughout.
Also, fresh cilantro and lime juice make a big difference, so in my opinion, there's no substituting. The best way to enjoy this snack is with these Pretzel Crisps, but serving it with tortilla chips or flat bread is good too.
Tahini is a sauce or paste made from roasted sesame seeds. I haven't had any trouble finding it at my regular grocery store.
Enjoy!
